We at Swiftmade love building great software, but we're not so fond of spending hours every billing cycle writing up what we actually did.
So we built GitLoom - a tool that automatically turns our GitHub activity into client-friendly progress reports.
The Problem We Actually Had
Every month during invoicing, we'd sit down and try to look up what was delivered using GitHub, dig through pull requests, and craft reports that made sense to our clients. It was eating up hours we could have spent actually providing value.
We tried existing tools, but they either just formatted GitHub data (still looked technical) or required us to track work separately (double the work). We needed something that understood our GitHub activity and could tell the story of what we built.
How GitLoom Actually Works
It's pretty straightforward:
- Connect your GitHub repos (read-only, we don't touch your code)
- Pick a template preset (we have presets that suit clients, PMs and daily stand-ups)
- GitLoom looks at GitHub activity within the reporting period, figures out what was accomplished, and writes a report people can understand
The key difference is we don't just reformat your commit messages - we analyze what happened and turn it into a coherent story about your progress.
Who Else Might Find This Useful
Obviously other agencies dealing with the same reporting challenge we had. But also:
Product teams who need to explain what they shipped to the rest of the company without getting too technical.
Startups who want to update investors or non-technical co-founders without writing a novel every time.
Basically anyone who builds software but needs to communicate progress to people who don't live in GitHub.
Want to Try It?
Right now we're letting people in on an invite basis. If you want to check it out, shoot us an email at [email protected].
Pricing starts at $12/month for small projects and everyone gets 3 free reports to start - no credit card needed upfront.
About Us
We're Swiftmade, a tight-knit development agency that's been building custom software since 2016. GitLoom is our second attempt at building something for other developers instead of just client work :)
